1. What silk fabrics and weights are most suitable for men’s dress shirts in terms of structure, drape, and year-round wear?

For men’s shirts, we primarily work with 19-22 momme silk twill and silk poplin. Twill offers a subtle diagonal texture and excellent structure for a crisp collar and cuffs, while poplin provides a smoother, lighter feel. Both have the opacity and body expected in quality menswear, unlike lighter charmeuse. We can also source washable silk for easy-care lines.

2. What fit profiles and size grading do you offer to cater to different regional markets (e.g., American Classic, European Slim, Asian Fit)?

We provide three base patterns: American Regular Fit (more room in chest and waist), European Slim Fit (tailored through torso with higher armholes), and Modern Athletic Fit (broader shoulders with a tapered waist). We can grade based on your provided size chart or adapt our standard grading rules to match your target demographic’s proportions.

3. What level of customization is possible for collar styles, cuffs, plackets, and other details that define a shirt’s character?

We offer comprehensive customization:

Collars: Point, spread, cutaway, button-down – with customizable height and point length.

Cuffs: Barrel (single/double), French, convertible – with choice of button or link.

Plackets: Standard, hidden, or Milanese.

Details: Pocket styles (barrel, welt), back pleats (box, side), and yoke designs.

A tech pack or detailed specification sheet is required for custom orders.

4. How do you ensure consistent sizing and quality across large production runs, especially for precise elements like collar rolls and seam alignment?

We implement a digital pattern management system and computer-controlled cutting. Each style has a master pattern and a detailed construction manual. Our quality control includes in-line checks during sewing (e.g., collar attachment, placket alignment) and a final AQL 2.5 inspection with size measurement verification on a sample of each batch.

5. What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom shirts, and how do you handle fabric commitments for multiple colors or styles?

Our MOQ is 300 pieces per style. For fabric, we work in two ways: 1) You can order from our stocked fabric library (quick turnaround), or 2) For custom dyed silk, we require a minimum of 200 meters per color. You can split this yardage across sizes of the same style. This allows for cost-effective small-batch color development.

6. Can you handle custom branding such as inner neck labels, branded buttons, or specific care labeling?

Yes, we are a full-service manufacturer for private label. We can produce and attach custom woven neck labels, care/content labels, and size labels. We can also source custom engraved buttons (mother-of-pearl, corozo) with your logo. All branding is integrated during production for a seamless finish.

7. What is your sampling process and timeline for a new shirt design? What information do you need to start?

Our process is:

Proto Sample: Made from similar weight fabric based on your tech pack for fit approval (10-12 days).

Fit Sample: Revised based on your feedback (7-10 days).

Production Sample (PP Sample): Made from actual silk with all trims for final approval (10-12 days).

We need a complete tech pack with sketches, measurements, fabric specs, and trim details to begin.

8. What are your standard payment terms and production lead times for bulk orders?

For new clients, our standard terms are 50% deposit to start production, 50% balance before shipment. For established partners, we offer 30% deposit, 70% against copy of Bill of Lading. Standard lead time is 60-75 days from final sample approval and deposit receipt to ex-factory readiness, depending on order volume and fabric sourcing.
